Encanto Family Tree, Disney’s 60th animated movie, is filled with magic and quirky details that set it apart from other films in their library. Despite these quirky touches, Encanto makes for a great family film to watch together – regardless of age group!
In the film, the Madrigal family lives in a magical part of Colombia and each member has their own special gift. Mirabel is the only one without an item, yet through her journey, she learns just how important family truly is.
Mother of julita – Abuela Alma
Abuela Alma is the matriarch of the Madrigal family and mother to Julieta (a chef who uses food to heal people), Pepa, and Bruno.
She is also the grandmother to Mirabel, Isabela, Luisa, Camilo, Dolores, and Antonio.
Yet she is far from being the ideal matriarch. She holds high expectations of her family members and often judges them harshly for mistakes or lack of competence.
She experiences survivor guilt and the feeling that she deserves more than what she has received. Additionally, she struggles with the constant fear of losing both her family and Encanto again.
Camilo & Antonio – Slim build and light golden-brown complexion
Camilo is a 15-year-old Colombian boy with a slim build and light golden-brown complexion; curly brown hair; captivating brown eyes; freckles across his nose and cheeks with dark tint on the eyelids; all these features combine to form a captivating presence.
He is the middle child of Felix and Pepa. As such, he is the second cousin to Mirabel, Isabela, as well as Julieta’s nephew. He is an upbeat and easy-going teenager, taking after his parents’ enthusiasm. He enjoys the company of others and gets along well with many people in town.
The youngest son of Papa and Felix Antonio
Antonio, age five, is the youngest son of Pepa and Felix. He possesses the unique gift of communication with animals.
His animal friends include capybaras (one named Chispi), toucans, hummingbirds, coatis, a tapir, and a jaguar. Additionally, he wears a vest decorated with animal patterns during his gift ceremony. He is a kind and compassionate child who relies on his cousin Mirabel for comfort and strength. He does not envy her lack of magical ability but admires her optimism and ability to accept reality.
Pepa & Fleix second oldest triplet of the Madrigal family
Pepa Madrigal is the second oldest triplet of the Madrigal family and she possesses the magical ability to control weather patterns. But this power comes with its own challenges as her emotions often get in the way, creating an ongoing struggle to keep clouds away and rain at bay.
She is married to Felix and they have three children: Dolores, Camilo, and Antonio.
Though her temper can get the better of her at times, she can quickly calm down when her loved ones offer support and affection. Her husband Felix can do this by being flirtatious or placing a hand on her shoulder, while their son Camilo may assist if she is experiencing an emotional meltdown.
The kind member of the Encanto family Felix
Felix, a dark-skinned Colombian with potential African roots, is an upbeat and kind member of the Encanto family tree. He is well known for his support of his wife and children. He holds high regard for his mother-in-law, Alma, and is generally supportive when it comes to Bruno’s prophecies.
He has a wicked sense of humor that keeps the entire Madrigal family amused. However, he often acts bored out of his mind and enjoys creating mischief for his own amusement.
Dolores – The oldest of the Madrigal siblings
Dolores Madrigal is the oldest of the Madrigal siblings and daughter to Pepa and Felix. She bears the family’s enhanced hearing gift.
She’s the first to hear town secrets, captivating drama, and tantalizing revelations. Though not a gossip, her gift makes it impossible for someone to keep something private. Dolores also helps Alma when La Casa Madrigal/Casita crumbles by sitting her down on a piece of debris to calm her. Her devotion and care make Dolores a favorite aunt for Alma’s grandmother.
